Carina May

President & CEO

Carina May is passionate about people! She has an energetic spirit and is dedicated to providing clients with personal attention to achieve desired project results. For over 15 years, Carina has worked as a communications consultant, account executive and project manager with several high profile clients, including the National Commission on Digestive Diseases, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues. Organizations she has recently worked with include The Myositis Association, MER Capital, and the Community Associations Institute, among others.

In 2016, Ms. May merged her marketing and communications company, C. May & Associates, with Smith & Harroff (S&H). Since that time she has grown the firm's digital practice and has directly overseen numerous client projects. She provides strategic guidance for the development of coordinated campaigns including messaging, creative design, paid advertising, development of short- and long-form content, social media outreach/community building, and multichannel distribution

In her free time, Ms. May devotes much of her energy to community initiatives. With a very hands-on approach, she is a strong advocate of volunteerism and has been involved with many local organizations including The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health and Volunteer Fairfax. In 2013 she co-founded Sweethearts & Patriots, an annual fundraising event that provides support to our Nation's military Veterans. She is a recipient of the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Carina attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising Management. She is a Certified Meeting Professional and holds a Certificate in Digital Marketing from Georgetown University.
